A high resolution version of the poster featuring Renate Reinsve has been added to IMDB. The poster appears to be a copy of the posters that will be used for cinema advertising and includes the production credits of the movie.
Of particular interest is the mention of a company called North Road Films who are listed alongside A24 in the credits. They had not previously been listed on IMDB or any of the industry websites in relation to the production of Backrooms..
Doing a quick Google search reveals the reason why – the company is actually only very new. According to an article on Variety from a few days ago, Backrooms is the first movie that they are involved in.
Called North Road Films, the operation will be led by president Kori Adelson. The producer is already overseeing projects made and co-financed by North Road, including the buzzy upcoming A24 project “Backrooms.” The film is based on a viral conceit about a digital maze that exists outside of reality. 20-year-old Kane Parsons directs Oscar nominees Renate Reinsve and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the film. Adelson brought Parsons and the script to A24.
North Road Films will operate alongside Chernin Entertainment Film, with a mandate to back both emerging and established directors to produce and finance projects that connect with wide audiences.
What stands out in the article is the mention that the president of North Road Films, Kori Adelson was the one who pitched the script and Kane Parsons to A24 which would indicate that she had a strong belief in both his abilities as a film-maker and of the Backrooms concept.
