A dedicated internet sleuth who spent hours searching for the location of Cap’n Clark’s Ottoman Empire on Google maps has found the real world store where it was filmed.
Based in a suburb in the east of Vancouver, Canada (where the movie was filmed) the store was actually a furniture store that was closing down. Signage on the front of the building indicates a “retirement sale” while on the Google maps satellite view a “For Lease” sign can be seen.
In an image they found of inside the store, you can see features of the interior that are in the trailer – roof trusses, poles, floor tiles, and most notably due to its uniqueness is a half-hexagon section that juts out of the wall.
This just goes to show the authenticity of the location used, as they could have used any building for the store. But instead the location scouts found a place that actually matched the type of business Clark owned.
For those wishing to buy furniture from the real Cap’n Clark’s, unfortunately there’s no longer a furniture store there, as there now appears to be an indoor tennis complex.
Best be careful not to no-clip into another type of complex.
