We would like to take the time to thank you for your handing of the recent Backrooms copyright situation.
As Backrooms fans we are very passionate about not just the Backrooms concept, but also that it is an internet based IP which belongs to everyone – or belongs to no one, depending on how you look at it. Therefore when something happens to threaten this, we can get very defensive.
We love that many interpretations are able to come from it – and while some of us may not be fans of all interpretations, we do appreciate that something like the Backrooms has allowed these creations to occur – one of which of course being Kane Parsons’ version of which you are associated with.
We live in a world where so many corporations put profits over what is right, that when we see something happening that appears to be going in this direction we often think it is happening even with a company we respect, without considering there may be an error.
For this we hope you understand why we needed to call you out over this.
We are glad that many of us were wrong in this case and that you are very much the studio that we believed were the best fit for a Backrooms movie from the beginning. One who not only let Kane Parsons create a film that kept his vision, but one who supported him and respected the Backrooms concept and the other creators who have been inspired by it.
Thank you for your transparency and issuing a statement on not just where you stand when it comes to the Backrooms but also letting us know what did cause the copyright strikes. Being open and letting people know about such things is also appreciated. And we appreciate that you took the time to discuss these issues with Kane Parsons too.
To end, we look forward to seeing what other Backrooms projects Kane Parsons will be working on with you in the future. Your belief in him as a director and filmmaker shows a wonderful support for young and upcoming creatives who are the future of the industry.

As we originally wrote an open letter to A24 calling them out over the copyright strikes that were occurring, we felt it appropriate to write a follow-up letter of appreciation.
As Kane himself mentioned in one of his recent comments, we should always hold steady against any form of someone trying to claim the Backrooms IP as their own (there’s a reason why most fans don’t care for Juan de Dios Gomez because he is one such person).
We hope this issue doesn’t come up again, but if it does, we will be there questioning and defending the Backrooms as an IP that truly is a shared universe created and contributed to by many.
