Exciting development with the Backrooms ARG! A user in the Kane Pixels Discord server faxed the number on the Cap’n Clark T-Shirt, giving them this flier for The South Bay Bulletin Board!
And upon calling the number on the flier, something else was found…
Calling the phone number leads to an automated voice message of a man saying “You have reached the south bay bulletin board archive. This number has been out of service since 1991. For access to the archived south bay bulletin board, visit 408bbsarchive.net”
And even crazier, this is a REAL website that you can visit right now!
Visiting the website takes you to this contact page. Here, you can enter your email and your phone number, presumably for future ARG developments… 👀
Here’s the thing- this isn’t actually a proper BBS (Bulletin Board System), but rather a website that simulates one you’d visit back then! These systems were hosted by independent entities, as opposed to a public blogging service.
Perhaps, we’ll learn more about Clark or Mary’s businesses here… maybe even Async! 👀
