A short news story aired on local Oshkosh news station, NBC24 about the Backrooms original location.
The report interviews some young fans about visiting the location, but of real interest are the comments by store owner John Hetzel and manager Paul Olen that they have been in discussions about rebuilding/ recreating the original area.
This is certainly exciting as previous owner Robert Mazza had talked about having Backrooms days throughout the year and on Halloween using a temporary display. But since the store became John’s Hobbies last year, it seemed nothing was going to happen.
Of course it still might not, but talks are a step in the right direction. And even if they didn’t try to do a recreation, something like a plaque recognising such would even be a nice gesture.
